My 2 weeks in Chicago were AMAZING! It is such a beautiful, rich, clean city. I was in love with the idea of sitting at a beach near a lake, yet still overlooking the night cityscape. But more than anything it is the people who make the places. I was able to meet new people by couchsurfing at their places and experience some things I never would have if I just stayed with people I knew. I also got to hang out with my favorite people, Sarah and Alyosha, and experienced the city with Savannah, Virgil, and Chris. I would love to live in Chicago if the winters were not so miserable.

Soon I’ll be in Argentina!

My best friend married an amazing man last Saturday, June 28. It was the most beautiful, perfect wedding. I met some amazing people and was so happy for Sarah. I realized that Love is about teaching each other daily, and that is the most important thing you can give another person.

My home, Grass Valley, California, is my favorite summer destination. I get home from La Jolla, California only to be met by warmer air, fresher water, and closer friends.

The Yuba River is clean, clear, salt-free, sand-free, wave-free, and not so crowed. We grab some fresh fruit and hike up to a nice hole and spend the day swimming in the perfect water and basking on warm rocks.

Wakeboarding and boating at Bullards bar could never compare to surfing in a cold ocean. When you get back on the boat, hot air dries you off in a few minutes. I would choose camping in the dirt by the lake and eating fruit and BBQ any day over living in the dorms and going to the beach for a few hours in La Jolla.

La Jolla is good for a lot of other things though. There I find a job as easy as sending out an email, I can get to the airport in 15 min, I can go shopping without driving for 45 min. Everyone LOVES San Diego, but it can’t be the best of both worlds. Can’t wait to see what part of the best world Buenos Aires is!

I feel like I’ve already failed. I’ve missed tons of opportunities to write about my travels. I get enveloped in the experiences and focus on each moment and experience as it’s happening. I taste and breath the experiences, but it seems that I can never slow down for long enough to write about it. It’s hard for me to believe that anything I could possibly write would come anywhere close to encompassing the the actual feelings, sights, and sounds of that moment. I’ve lived in France and traveled to Italy, Greece, England, Mexico, Honduras, Belize, Australia, and New Zealand and have no words to show for it. But it’s passed now and I can no longer recall the unique sensations of every moment, the people, the cultures. They are lost inside of me, a part of who I have become

But now I am going to write, not only to keep others updated but to make sure I can go back to the elements that will have changed me and made me who I am. Traveling and trying to describe the affect it has on me is like trying to describe a taste, no one will truly understand. So my goal is not that, but rather to let you know that I am tasting it to the fullest and to inspire you to get out there and taste it too.

In addition to words, I will record emotion through photos, which I find is more easily done, if done well.
